Can I open the capsule and sprinkle the powder on my food or in my smoothie?

It is up to your preference in taste. Some of our products will taste better than others so the most popular and convenient way to consume them is by capsule form.

Where are your products made?

All ingredients are grown in New Zealand and its surrounding waters. These premium raw materials come to our state-of-the-art facility in Christchurch, where they are gently processed to get the best out of them. Everything is done in New Zealand, from the growing to the manufacturing and right through to the encapsulating process. We use high tech freeze-drying and extraction methods.

What is freeze drying?

Freeze drying is the process of removing the moisture from our fresh New Zealand ingredients at a low temperature to maximise their nutritional value.

What is AiOra?

AiOra operates under the consumer umbrella of PharmaZen. PharmaZen develops, manufactures and markets science-based nutraceutical ingredients and finished products using only the best natural materials New Zealand has to offer. Based in Christchurch, PharmaZen has more than 20 years of experience selling into global markets. With a focus on traceability, functionality and innovation, the company’s premium products are renowned for their quality and purity. Due to this success and experience, AiOra was launched to offer these products to consumers in New Zealand.

How do we know your products are safe?

We adhere to strict regulations. We hold a number of licences and certifications, including being a Ministry for Primary Industry Approved Organisation, Animal Products Exporter and Good Manufacturing Practice certified business, to name a few. We have high production standards and testing is carried out on the finished product to make sure it is safe for consumption. We also source only the best ingredients and raw materials to ensure we can make the best possible product for you.

What is the difference between your products and others on the shelves?

One of our main point of differences is the fact all our supplements are made in New Zealand by our own team, from New Zealand grown ingredients. We believe New Zealand produces some of the best ingredients in the world, so why source from anywhere else? This way we have full traceability, which ensures the best quality product. Another key difference is AiOra products contain no fillers, flow agents, additives or preservatives – just single origin ingredients known for their unique health benefits.

Products and ingredients:

Where do your ingredients come from?

Fertile soil and stringent rules around animal welfare and biosecurity means New Zealand is recognised as having some of the safest and best quality produce in the world. That’s why every ingredient in AiOra is sourced from around New Zealand. Check our 100% Traceable page here to find out more.

Why do you not use fillers or additives?

We only use 100% natural and premium ingredients in our products. We believe there’s no need to put in anything that does not add value. It’s important to check the label before buying supplements to see exactly what’s in the product. We encourage you to check ours – you won’t find any nasties in AiOra.

Do you use flow agents or excipients?

No. While a lot of other companies and big brands use flow agents and excipients to get their products into capsules, we believe we don’t need to add anything that does not benefit your health. We have developed special techniques that allow us to encapsulate our products without needing these additives.

Is AiOra Gut + Brain just kiwifruit in a capsule?

No it’s not. We concentrate down the enzyme actinidin which breaks down the protein in the gut and helps aid digestion and avoid bloating. So, while our capsules are full of the goodness of kiwifruit, there’s a bit more science behind it.

Is AiOra Vascular + Vision just whole blackcurrants crushed into a powder?

No. We use a complex process that involves extracting the anthocyanins from the blackcurrants before freeze drying them and making them into a powder. Anthocyanins are the powerful antioxidants that have a wide variety of health benefits. This process makes our Vascular + Vision a concentrated extract, with one capsule equating to about 60 blackcurrants.

Do you use organic kiwifruit?

No, because it is too difficult to source enough organic kiwifruit from New Zealand.

What part of the cow do you use in your calcium and collagen products?

New Zealand beef is world renowned because it is grass-fed and free range. We use the parts of the animal that would otherwise go to waste, including cartilage and bone. These are known for their natural collagen and calcium content. Our bovine collagen is not sourced from cow hides, hooves or heads.

Why should I take collagen?

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body, acting as a major building block of bones, skin, cartilage, tendons, ligaments and even teeth. Your body produces its own collagen, but as we age this production decreases over time, which contributes to ageing like wrinkles, sagging and degrading bones, joints and muscles. Collagen supplementation is thought to replace the collagen your body no longer produces.

What is the difference between type 1, 2 and 3 collagens?

While there several different types of collagen, types 1, 2 and 3 are the main ones. Each type of collagen has different functions or benefits.

Type 1 makes up about 90% of the body’s collagen. It is the structure for skin, bones, cartilage, tendons, teeth and connective tissue. It is well known for anti-ageing and supporting hair, skin and nails.

Type 2 is found in the cartilage that cushions joints. Its most popular application is for joint, cartilage, bone and muscle support.

Type 3 makes up tissues with elastic properties like skin, lungs, intestinal walls and blood vessels, while also being found in bone, cartilage, tendons and other connective tissue.

AiOra Bone + Joint contains collagen types 1, 2 and 3, while AiOra Natural Calcium contains type 1 collagen.

What are your capsules made from?

Our Gut + Brain and Vascular + Vision are both encapsulated in capsules made from vegetable cellulose, making them vegetarian and vegan friendly. Our Bone + Joint, Natural Calcium and Joint Support are made with gelatine capsules.

Does AiOra Joint Health smell fishy?

Because AiOra Joint Health is made from 100% fresh Greenshell mussel it is normal for the capsules to have slight fishy smell.
